Re: Carrick
A brilliant player. We shouldn't have him back though, we've just bought Nordtveit too so hardly a need for him

Re: Carrick
I think he is a cracking player and only seems to be rated by those that know their football. I don't mean that in a derogatory way, but he doesn't catch the eye like a Payet or a Martial who even casual watchers can identify as good.

Having said that, I don't think it would be the right move. We have some excellent midfielders already and bringing someone in on big wages who is on a downward curve in his career is not the right thing to do.

If we're going to be paying those kind of wages, they should go on someone who will be in the first 11.

That's my opinion anyhoo... Which we all know is the opinion that really matters in these here parts

Re: Carrick
Think we should be looking to sign someone who can do the job for a few years not just short term. We are a big club and heading in the right direction so being a last punt for players should be long gone.

Mike
Obiang is no carrick.
Nordveit is no guarantee of success either.

Carrick for a season makes sense to me.

Re: Carrick

Re: Carrick
Carrick is exceptional, don't normally want older players joining now, but he still looks as fit as a fiddle. As long as he doesn't cost too much in fees and wages then he is definitely worth having. Great experience, calm, great passer, good vision. Still a few years left and great for the kids to learn from. Great professional.

Re: Carrick
....and i agree, the days of us being a retirement home for cast offs should be a thing of the past. not calling carrick one but wenger can fuck off with his injury prone duds that he'll no doubt try and dump on us

Takashi Miike 3:17 Sun May 22
Re: Carrick
we have obiang already at the club, the young norwegian on the way so it's a no from me. i appreciate he's still a decent player but why not utilise what we've got? im not sure we need another central midfield player. lets buy the centre forward we need first, a much bigger priority for me

:^) 3:16 Sun May 22
Re: Carrick
Or we could identify someone under the age of 34 with a long term future at the club and not be short sighted fuckwits.

How the fuck are we meant to compete with clubs above us when taking their aged cast offs like its a blessing?

Re: Carrick
Oh dear. Some of you really don't know much about football do you. Carrick should be one of our prime targets. He's a proper holding midfielder and he stays put and knows how to pass the ball. He's exactly what you need if you play a game that hits teams on the break.

Our main weakness this season was not having someone like him who is always where he should be. Noble had his best season precisely because he was allowed to push forward. He's a box to box player not a CDM. And kouyate the same. He's a ball carrier not a passer. And too often they were both caught in front of the ball.

Carricks a no brainer
